The Nigeria-Connection to Willhaben.at
willhaben.at received a few days ago an acquaintance of a strange e-mail to request their ads on. The mail was written in English and is apparently using the Google translation tool has been translated into German. wanted a short summary, a father, his daughter married in Italy make a gift. Payment should be made by check, made the transport of a freighter from Italy and for the effort you would get for 100 € extra. The whole restaurant for a device!
Even from this point it was clear that it would be here probably about a possible fraud attempt. I assume out that the backers did not even know what it is actually because otherwise it would alter the wording in the mail probably. Usually it is then so that the check is not covered - and that we can redeem only if the freighter was picked up by the device. Ultimately you pay on it or even charges.
excerpt from the mail in English:
T hanks for the quick reply, after consideration, my wife and i have agreed to proceed.Reserve it for me and take off this advert from the internet because I am making payment arrangement
immediately. It is meant for a wedding gift to our daughter we, do not want her to know about it, we want it to be a surprise.
she is getting married in Italy soon. Due to my tight schedule / programs and to avoid additional cost, I may not be able to physically come to see / test it before
payment, but I am ok with the details on the advert and I am paying for it as described and I accept that you sell it to me in good condition.
So you should willhaben.at any strange requests / mail or on other platforms get ignored at best. Most of these scams originate from abroad (often from Nigeria - Nigeria-Connection so) and are not serious.
