Charles Spencer Chaplin, better known as "Charlie Chaplin" , was born in 1889 in London. His big breakthrough came with his unique presentation of the "tramp" in the silent movies of the 1920s. Chaplin was a terrific actor, Entertainer, director and entrepreneur.
